The new Jeep Compass e-Hybrid showcases an electric motor that supports a petrol-powered engine, offering a Hybrid driving experience without the worry of finding the next charging point. The Compass e-Hybrid offers pure electric driving at low speeds and when coasting. That means that manoeuvres like parking and queuing in traffic can all be achieved smoothly and quietly completely using the electric motor, even when the internal combustion engine is switched off. It’s a smart choice if you are looking for a greener way to drive and want to save fuel, but aren’t quite ready for a plugin hybrid or full electric vehicle just yet!

 

Every Detail Thought Out

The exterior and interior of the Compass have both been updated in the e-Hybrid, with a new front grille, front bumper and full LED headlights. Relax into the rhythm of your journey inside the cabin of the Compass, which stands out for its space, comfort and premium style. This includes a whole suite of new storage compartments, located behind the gearbox, on the central console, and on the armrest – all unobtrusive and within arm’s reach. The Hey Jeep voice assistant makes Compass driving even smoother than ever. Instruct your Compass e-Hybrid starting with a simple “Hey Jeep”, and your car will be happy to oblige, playing your favourite music, adjusting air conditioning or sorting out the map for your journey. There’s also a wireless charging pad for your phone, Apple CarPlay/AndroidAuto and wifi for up to 8 devices. While you drive in complete comfort, a range of passive and active safety features will keep you safe on the road under any circumstances.

How does Jeep’s e-Hybrid technology work?

Jeep®’s new e-Hybrid technology is based on the combined work of two engines – the petrol-powered 1.5 T4 Turbo powertrain, delivering 130 HP through the front axle, and an electric motor integrated into the new 7-speed DCT transmission providing 48V to boost performance up to 15 kW (20 HP)* in various phases of the driving experience. The e-Hybrid system can guarantee a pure electric driving experience: it allows you to drive in full electric mode with the internal combustion engine completely switched off when at low speed.

Plus, with regenerative charging, you’ll never have to worry about battery charge on long drives. A new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, ensures a smooth drive on and off-road, and puts the power in your hands.

What is regenerative braking?

Regenerative braking technology is designed to recover kinetic energy from the braking system, meaning the car’s electric battery is charged every time you brake. The battery of the Jeep® Compass e-Hybrid is charged through regenerative braking, as well as through e-coasting (which leverages the negative torque generated on the engine while decelerating, to speed up the charging process) and e-boosting.
